Woman Attacked On Trinity River Trail In FW

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 News) ― Police are urging women to be extra careful after a woman was attacked on a popular exercise trail in North Texas.

It happened on the Trinity River Trails off Bryant Irvin in Southwest Fort Worth. The part of the trail where it happened is close to the border of Fort Worth and Benbrook.

Police from both cities are letting women know about the attack so they can be extra vigilant.

It happened around 6 a.m. Sunday. A 46-year-old woman was walking alone on the Trinity River Trails when she saw a man standing next to a tree.

The woman turned around and walked the other way, but the man followed her. She says he ran up, grabbed her from behind and tried to drag her into a wooded area.

The victim says the attacker kept telling her to shut up as she screamed, but she continued fighting back and yelling for help. Finally, she says he let her go.

She last saw the attacker running toward an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Bellaire Drive.

Police are encouraging women to travel in pairs at all times of day, and to be on the lookout for anyone or anything that looks suspicious.
